The short version
AtlasBurst does not have accounts, does not ask for your name or email, and does not send your gameplay anywhere. The game runs entirely on your device, offline. The only third party involved is Google AdMob, which shows the ads that keep the app free.
What we collect
The Android app: nothing. It makes no network requests of its own — the entire map and question set is bundled inside it, which is why it works in airplane mode. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter and no server it talks to. The only network activity in the app comes from Google AdMob, below.
The website (atlasburst.com): anonymous diagnostics only. When you play in a browser, the site sends us a small, anonymous report so we can tell whether the map actually works on real devices, and which parts of the quiz are too hard.
- What is in a report: browser and device type, whether your browser supports WebGL, your graphics-card name as the browser reports it, window size, and — at the end of a game — which category you played, how many questions, your score and your accuracy. If the map fails to load, the error message.
- What is never in a report: your name, your IP address, any account or device identifier, any cookie, and which individual questions you answered.
- We cannot follow you between visits. There is no identifier of any kind, so two visits from the same person are indistinguishable from two different people. Reports are kept for three days and then deleted automatically.
- Our server records only the two-letter country code your connection arrives with, and never stores your IP address.
What is stored on your device
Saved in your device's local storage, never transmitted:
- the player name you type, so it is prefilled next time
- your best scores
- your music and sound preferences
- how recently an ad was shown, so ads stay infrequent
Uninstalling the app deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else.
Advertising
AtlasBurst shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve them, Google may collect and process your device's advertising identifier and related device information. That collection is Google's, under Google's Privacy Policy, not ours — we never receive it.
The app's target audience is 13 and over. It is not directed at children.
Your choices:
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- In the EEA and UK, a consent form appears before any ad loads; declining means you see non-personalised ads.
- US state privacy choices are offered through the same Google consent flow.
Children
AtlasBurst is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it — though note the app collects no personal information from anyone.
Map data
Map geometry comes from Natural Earth, which is in the public domain. It is bundled in the app and involves no third-party service and no network request.
Security
Because we collect and store nothing, there is no account to breach and no server holding your data. Device storage is protected by your device's own security.

Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
